Do Californians Even WANT To Own Their Property?

In next month’s primary election Californians will once again be asked whether or not they wish to actually have control over the property they (supposedly) own. The last time we were asked this question, (Prop 90 in 2006) the answer was resounding “maybe”. According to the Secretary of State Prop 90 failed, with 3,932,043 votes (47.6%) for the measure versus 4,324,722 votes (52.4%) against it. On Tuesday nearly 130,000 people voted for Dr. Ron Paul in the Pennsylvania Presidential Primary. That was 16% of the Republicans voting in the primary, and approximately 1.5% of the registered voters in the state. I’ve been firmly in the anti-Wal-Mart camp for more than 20 years now, but it wasn’t much of an issue when I was living in San Jose and other large cities because there were so many options that few people I knew shopped at Wal-Mart. In Gilroy, Wal-Mart dominates the retail world to the extent that I frequently feel I’m the only person who doesn’t shop there.
