Getting It All Back Together

Posted on July 28, 2008 - Filed Under Fatherhood | 1 Comment

Wow!  It’s been a really great summer.  I suppose I should say it was a really great summer, ’cause mine’s over now.  It started early (with the trip to Hard Rock Park’s opening in May) so I suppose it’s only fair that it end early as well. Tomorrow Z boards a plane to visit my mother for two weeks, then she starts school about a week after returning.

Not only did Z and I have some amazing experiences this summer, but…

Catching A Flight To A Road Trip?

Posted on April 30, 2008 - Filed Under Road Trippin', Travel | Leave a Comment

Trying to figure out this summer road trip with gas prices climbing and climbing is driving me absolutely nuts. However I may have stumbled upon a rather unique solution this afternoon - fly somewhere then rent a car. Yeah, I know it sounds a bit crazy to take a plane on a road trip, but here me out.

The process is pretty simple, really. Just keep an eye on the last minute deals from your local discount regional airline, like Southwest,…

More Road Trip Contemplations

Z and I are still trying to work out the plans for our summer road trip. If gas keeps going up at its current rate we’re probably going to have to limit both the amount of time and the miles logged. But if it can hold or (never gonna happen) decrease then we’re still hoping to head all the way to Texas by way of the Grand Canyon and Four Corners.

Should we make it all the way to Texas then…

With summer upon us here in Northern California and a major trip coming up soon I’ve been trying to explore some different ways for Z and I to enjoy the weather in the great outdoors. Z’s already been to Great America three times in the last 6 weeks, and I can’t afford the gas to Discovery Kingdom in Vallejo nor the cost of our Boardwalk season passes until next payday. Plus I’ve been trying to find a way to get…

Part of the Carnival Midway Games Series - Previous in series

Carnival season is upon us once again. Z and I visited our first carnival of the year a few weeks back and will be visiting our second this coming weekend. Thus, it seems time to refresh the memories of all those ‘big strapping’ men out there looking to win the affection of their lady love via giant teddy bears and other plush critters.

This is actually the third…

100 Years Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk

Z and I made our first joint trek of 2008 to the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk last weekend. I’ve been unable to afford to renew our season passes yet, so it was a games only day (oh and Z finally got her first deep fried twinkie - she liked it  ). Sometime over the winter semi-closure of the Boardwalk a couple of major changes occurred…
