Thirty One Days To Hard Rock Goodness!!

Posted on April 7, 2008 - Filed Under Ride Reports | Leave a Comment

Where were you on July 17, 1955? Me, I wasn’t even a gleam in my then seven-year old mother’s eye. But if I were to somehow be transported back in time there is only one place I would have wanted to be on that fateful day. For that was the day that Walt Disney changed the world by opening what would become the most famous theme park in history: Disneyland. Despite the fact I haven’t really been a fan of…

Part of the Carnival Midway Games Series - Previous in series         Next in series

Despite the Christmas trip being cancelled, Z and I headed up to Vallejo and Six Flags Discovery Kingdom on Saturday. The trip was canceled because I was no longer going to support her spoiled nature. The DK trip was permissible because she paid her own way. The primary motivation for the trip (other than riding Medusa) was “The Biggest Christmas Tree In The World”. And let…

Cancelling The Christmas Trip

It took me six months to plan it, three months to pay for it and less than a week to cancel it entirely, losing about $650 in the process. Here was the itinerary:

  1. 12/26 - Early morning pickup of Z, heading up to Six Flags Discovery Kingdom in Vallejo for a day of wild rides and coaster fun followed by an evening of watching Z ooh and ahh over the Holiday in the Park decor and the World’s Largest Christmas Tree. The…

Sometimes you’re just looking for information. At those times a general purpose search engine is perfect. But sometimes you’re looking for people and that’s where the “big boys” of search all fall apart. What we need is a completely searchable online Who’s Who for whatever it is that interests us. Luckily, we already have one in Spock. I’ve written about Spock before, and have used it a few dozen times since then. Spock’s not only helped me learn more about…

Single Rider Sickness At Six Flags Magic Mountain

Sunday, 5:15am - beep, Beep, BEEP, BEEP, BEEP WHACK!

5:24am - beep, Beep, BEEP, BEEP, BEEP WHACK!

5:33am - beep, Beep, BEEP, BEEP, BEEP WHACK!

5:42am - beep, Beep, BEEP, BEEP, BEEP groan, click

I finally crawled out of bed, splashed some water on my face, and headed off for my solo day at Six Flags Magic Mountain. I had to get up early because it’s a fairly long drive from Morgan Hill (just South of San Francisco) to Valencia (just North of Los Angeles),…

Another Long Term Goal Takes A Hit

Posted on November 23, 2007 - Filed Under Ride Reports | 3 Comments

Well, the weight loss goal took a small hit as a result of Thanksgiving Turkey (and ham, and stuffing, and potatoes, etc), and another just took a hit thanks to an email I just received from Six Flags Magic Mountain-

The transformation of X into X2 is currently scheduled to begin with the closure of the ride as of December 3, 2007. X will re-open as X2 in Spring of 2007 (exact date to be announced at a later time).

Criminy! Yeah,…
