Actual Proof We’re Still Passing PageRank
Posted on January 25, 2008 - Filed Under Blogging | Leave a Comment
It was almost exactly one month ago that I discovered I was still passing PageRank despite being Googlesmacked for writing paid posts. A Google employee was quick to jump into the comments and inform me that I was completely wrong. I had neither the knowledge nor the resources to run a genuine experiment, but luckily Brian Combs of Apogee Search does and he did just that. You can read his results in his blog post: PayPerPost Blog Links Still Impact Google…

How Izea and PayPerPost Are Working To Help Their Bloggers
Posted on January 18, 2008 - Filed Under Blogging, Paid To Write | 2 Comments
I just spent 38 solid minutes trying to reserve an opp at PayPerPost, only to lose out ion the end. What was taking so long? I kept getting Error 500 pages while trying to get the opp reserved. Meanwhile the PPP forums and blogs were working fine, so I read them while waiting for interminable page loads (only to get the error page, complete with glaring typo - see pic at left) . Reading the blogs was especially aggravating as…

Getting Screwed By IzeaRanks - Big Time
Posted on January 17, 2008 - Filed Under Blogging, Paid To Write, Technology | 4 Comments
IzeaRanks, the new website the folx at PayPerPost have rolled out to present their RealRank system to the world, has been live for about a week now. Unfortunately, its been attacked by much of the blogosphere and is doing little to work against those claims. RealRank was rolled out ahead of schedule as a way to assist PPP bloggers who lost their PageRank as a result of working with PayPerPost. Unfortunately, again, it’s screwing many of us over as well.
Those…

Is Smorty Getting Desperate?
Posted on January 11, 2008 - Filed Under Blogging, Paid To Write | 4 Comments
Part of the Smorty Series - Previous in series
A couple days back I reported that Smorty was emailing me offers once again. Well, they emailed me two more offers today, despite my having quit and being told that I would be removed from the program for violating their (then unwritten) rules. In fact, there is still no requirement in their terms regarding the length of time a sponsored post must remain.
Don’t believe they tacked in this new rule…

PayPerPost Jumps On The Hypocrisy Bandwagon
Posted on November 27, 2007 - Filed Under Blogging, Paid To Write, SEO | Leave a Comment
The war between Google and PayPerPost continues with bloggers continuing to be caught in the middle. I recently wrote about PPP’s new RealRank alternative to Google’s PageRank and also about Google’s latest hypocrisy. Today I came across what sure smells of hypocrisy from Izea’s Founder/CEO Ted Murphy-
RealRank was conceived and introduced before any of this PR upheaval. It wasn’t introduced because people lost their rank, it was introduced to solve an advertising problem. The problem is that PR and traffic have no…

Saying Goodbye To Smorty

Part of the Smorty Series - Previous in series Next in series
Earlier this week I wrote about Smorty Get[ting] On My Bad Side. Well, now they’ve gone too far and it’s time for us to part ways. They have two new “messages” posted on their control panel. The first is a (not so subtle) swipe at paid blogging pioneer Izea/PayPerPost-
There have been some recent changes that Google have made with regard to sponsored postings.
Smorty would like to offer…
