Drug War Insanity Comes To Morgan Hill
Posted on November 9, 2007 - Filed Under Living Free | Leave a Comment
For those who are unaware, I live in a small town called Morgan Hill, CA. We’re what Realtors call a “bedroom community nestled between San Jose’s Silicon Valley and Gilroy’s Agricultural Marvel”. With a population of about 33,500 (1/3 of that being minors) it’s a pretty mellow place to live. With the 10th largest city in the US a mere 20 miles away, it’s also far from a complete hick town or real country living. So I knew it was…

Cow Meet Car, Car Meet Mechanic

I’m not really sure there’s anything I can add, but I just had to share this story from Reuters-
SPOKANE, Washington (Reuters) - A cow plunged from a 200-foot (61-metre) cliff onto the hood of a minivan on a highway in central Washington state, according to police.
The car’s occupants, Charles and Linda Everson, were not hurt in Sunday’s accident, but the cow was euthanized at the scene.
“If the cow had fallen a split second later, the animal would have landed right…

Good For The Goose Not Good For The Gander?

I must have missed this story the first few times it came around, but luckily, Wired was able to catch me up. Apparently, Congress is mightily upset that Yahoo! complied with a federal subpoena in an attempt to identify and convict a reporter of leaking state secrets. When informed that Yahoo! is now working to get said reporter reporter released, Representative Tom Lantos, a California Democrat and chairman of the House of Representatives Foreign Affairs Committee, stated: “Why is it such…

So Much For Easy Entrance To The Mile High Club

The new Airbus A380 is the world’s largest Jumbo Jet and seemed to be the perfect chance for the less daring to finally enter the Mile High Club. No more sneaking off to the restroom, developing secret knocks, fornicating in fear that you’ll be caught any second. But Reuters reports that such is not to be-
Singapore Airlines, the first operator of the new Airbus A380, has dashed the hopes of sexual thrill-seekers planning to engage in amorous activity aboard the world’s…

More Global Warming Claptrap
Posted on October 15, 2007 - Filed Under Aahz | Leave a Comment
Global Warming news has been all over the place once again, thanks to Al Gore receiving a Nobel Peace Prize (so much for that hallowed institution’s credibility).? I just finished reading what may be the worst written newspaper article I’ve ever seen come out of the Associated Press, and not just because it’s another piece of global warming hyperbole. It’s so badly put together that I’m not even going to link to it, but if you really want to find it,…

Do A Quarter of Americans Really Support Torture?
Posted on October 12, 2007 - Filed Under Nonviolence | Leave a Comment
According to a Rasmussen Reports telephone survey of “American voters”, 27% of them believe the U.S. government should torture prisoners. Amazingly, only 53% believe the government should not torture prisoners. I didn’t think I could be shocked by the callous nature of Americans any more, but this sure did the trick. That means that if you gather any 4 folks in a room, odds are that one of them believes in torturing other human beings. Take a look around your office or school.…
