Thinking Engagement? Think Platinum!

Posted on November 30, 2008 - Filed Under Shopping | Leave a Comment

Picture_8 For a guy who’s not really a fan of institutions I’ve actually written quite a bit about the institution of marriage here at Philaahzophy.  It seems that the men and women around me don’t share my general opinion of the ritual.  And everyone knows that we’re quickly approaching the three biggest proposal days of the year: Christmas, New Year’s Eve and Valentine’s Day.

When I got married I could barely afford any ring, but had I the choice and the opportunity I…

New Year’s Eve Proposal Surprise?

Posted on January 3, 2008 - Filed Under Shopping | Leave a Comment

New Year’s Eve is one of the most common nights for wedding proposals. Not too surprising when one considers the weight we as Americans put on new year’s resolutions, changing with the calendar, etc. frankly, I’ve never been a big adherent to the theory that a new digit at the end of the date means its time to change my life, but clearly I’m in the minority as wedding and engagement announcements seem to be poring into my email box…

More Wonderful Wedding Advice For Men

In addition to their excellent article on how grooms can be more involved in the wedding…

This is a complete Wedding Website, but the part that excited me the most was that it also acts as a wedding registry aggregator, allowing the happy couple to register at dozens of major stores (and more than 100 charities).

The couple returned from their honeymoon…

Part of the Anarchy Case Studies Series - Previous in series         Next in series

Wow, it’s been almost a month since I added to the Case Study of Somalia. I apologize for the delay. I’ve been slowly working my way through Michael van Notten’s The Law of the Somalis: A Stable Foundation for Economic Development in the Horn of Africa. Van Notten was born in the Netherlands and received his Law degree from Leiden University. He married into the…

Polygamy Is NOT A Tough Issue For Libertarians

I really like Becky C. of Just a Girl in short shorts talking about whatever, but she’s dead wrong on the issue of polygamy.
