Where Is Today’s Punk Rock?

Posted on November 5, 2007 - Filed Under Fatherhood | Leave a Comment

I became politically aware as a result of punk bands like the Sex pistols and the Dead Kennedys. Obviously, that’s where I first heard the term ‘anarchy’ as well, though it was only the first step in a long road to truly understand both the term and the philosophy behind it (not to mention deprogramming myself from the state indoctrination I was receiving at the time). With the recent acquisition of my $20 iPod I’ve started listening to more music once…

Road Trip 2008 - Cancelled

Posted on November 5, 2007 - Filed Under Ride Reports, Road Trippin' | Leave a Comment

Z and I have decided to cancel (or rather, postpone once again) our 2008 road trip. The plan was two weeks in the Southwest - Arizona, New Mexico, Grand Canyon, Four Corners, Meteor Crater, etc. Instead we’ll be visiting Astroland at New York’s Coney Island for a week (or so). The trip to New York is too expensive in terms of both gas and time to make it a road trip in 2008. With two full years of anticipation for this…

There’s just too much data from too many sources to water it all down to a single post. At the same time, I don’t want to just give you a bunch of links to…

Defining Government Once Again

Posted on October 11, 2007 - Filed Under Anarchy | Leave a Comment

I’ve said it before and I’ll likely say it again…

gov-ern-ment [?gav?m?nt] noun

An organization whose primary purpose is to reward its friends while simultaneously punishing its enemies.

Sure, that’s not what the dictionary says, but we all know dictionaries, like history, are written by “the man;) The latest example of this truer definition of government comes to us from the Government Accountability Office (GAO) via Wired magazine-

The Government Accountability Office says the agency tips off some people with business before the commission in…

A Brief History Of The Fight Against Baldness

Posted on September 15, 2007 - Filed Under Aahz | Leave a Comment

I stumbled across the following “magic spell” while doing some random reading on ancient Egypt-

Fat of lion, fat of hippo, fat of cat, fat of crocodile, fat of ibex, fat of serpent, are mixed together and the head of the bald person is anointed with them.

Yes, it seems men have been fighting going bald for more than 4,000 years now and, overall, we’re still losing the battle. Personally, I simply accepted my receding hair line many years ago, but then,…
