Back On The Weight Loss Track

Posted on May 16, 2008 - Filed Under Aahz, Health Care | 1 Comment

Okay, so I didn’t reach my goal weight of 200 pounds before I went on vacation to Myrtle Beach. But The good news is that I was still able to ride everything at Hard Rock Park and that’s what really matters. When I weighed myself upon my return late Saturday night I had bounced back up to 241. But considering I didn’t worry about what I was eating at all while I was gone I’m still pretty pleased with that. We…

Dieting And Quitting Smoking DO Mix! Who Knew?

Posted on April 30, 2008 - Filed Under Aahz, Health Care | Leave a Comment

Despite all of the “common wisdom” out there that says people gain weight when they quit smoking I decided to reisk my forward (or is that downward?) momentum on my weight loss goal by quitting smoking as well. It’s now been 10 days without a cigarette (wow! I actually had to look that up :D ) and in that time I’ve lost another 6 pounds! WooHoo!

Yep, I’m finally under the 230 mark . Just barely, but I’m under. Considering I decided…

Moving Forward With My Weight Loss Goals

Posted on April 24, 2008 - Filed Under Aahz, Health Care | 6 Comments

Thirteen days to my weight loss deadline and I’ve been cracking down rather successfully. Last week I reported that I’d bounced back up to 242 pounds, well I’m proud to report that I’ve not only regained my footing, but moved even further into territory that hasn’t been explored in a few years: 235 pounds! WooHoo! That’s a net weight loss of 15 pounds since last fall when I set my goal. I’m behind schedule, but feel I’ve learned a lot…

When Self-Help Worlds Collide

In October, 2005 Eckhart Tolle revolutionized the self-help world with his bestselling book, A New Earth, which introduced Americans to the power of the ego. According to Hale Dwoskin, author of The Sedona Method-

Tolle’s book is literally a manifesto for bringing the presence that you are into manifestation on a planetary scale and thereby bringing a new earth into being.

In November, 2006 Rhonda Byrne once again rocked the world of self-help with her bestselling book, The Secret, which introduced the…

Should We Be Happy For No Reason?

Posted on January 31, 2008 - Filed Under Books, Health Care | Leave a Comment

The Sedona Method seems to be everywhere I look these days. Marci Shimoff, founding member of The Transformational Leadership Council, has followed up her massive best seller The Secret with a new book called “Happy For No Reason”. Apparently Mariel Hemingway, granddaughter of Ernest Hemingway, followed these methods to overcome the depression that plagued her famous grandfather. As someone who’s lived with manic depression for more than 30 years now I’m left asking one question: should we be happy all the time?

I haven’t…

Results Of The (Not So) Great Diet Pill Experiment

Posted on January 14, 2008 - Filed Under Aahz, Health Care | 2 Comments

Part of the Relacore Experiment Series - Previous in series

Just over a month ago I wrote about starting a diet pill experiment to test the efficacy of Relacore. As I wrote in the original post-

I’m NOT a fan of pills. Americans are way to dependent on their “medicines” and I’ve been adamantly opposed to taking all drugs (legal and otherwise) most of my life. It’s only been in the last few years that I’ve even been willing to…
