Sears Wants You To Give Even More Of Your Money To The Military
Posted on December 1, 2008 - Filed Under Military, Shopping | 3 Comments
Apparently, Sears thinks the government isn’t sending enough of our money to the soldiers and they’re ready to do something about it with their Sears Heroes at Home Wish Registry. Make sure you read that title correctly. Sears isn’t offering to send the soldiers more money. No, they’re asking that you send more of your money to soldiers and their families in the form of Sears gift cards. And they’re making it easy by setting up a web page (linked above)…

Charter Internet Deals Getting Better And Better
Posted on November 30, 2008 - Filed Under Movies/TV | Leave a Comment
Despite their monopoly status (which is enforced with the government’s guns, of course) Charter is having to try harder and harder to get people to sign up for their cable television, internet and home phone services. In fact, as the ad to the left shows, they’re currently offering a free gift card (to the business of your choice) worth up to $250 with you sign up for any of their black friday deals.

Quick Tips On This Frugal Black Friday
Posted on November 28, 2008 - Filed Under Friday Frugality, Personal Finance | Leave a Comment
Part of the Friday Frugality Series - Previous in series
Today is Black Friday, though I’ve barely heard that phrase this year and don’t know of any actual deals going on today. Still, I have a feeling that if my regular Frugal Friday readers aren’t out shopping for deals, they’re probably still in recovery mode from yesterday’s National Day of Overeating. So I’m just going to drop some quick news/tips/whatever with y’all.
I’ve written about the Safeway PowerPump Gas…

Part of the Friday Frugality Series - Previous in series Next in series
Earlier this week I wrote (on one of my other blogs) about Safeway’s PowerPump Gas Rewards program and how you can use it to save a ton of money on gas. I know not everyone has a Safeway (or Safeway gas) in their area, which is why I wrote the article on my local blog. However, I have since learned that Krogers (and possibly other members of…

Here’s Some Gift Cards You Probably Haven’t Considered
Posted on November 19, 2008 - Filed Under Health Care, Shopping | Leave a Comment
As y’all know I’ve become a big fan of gift cards over the last few years. Not only are they good gifts, but I also use them as a tool for saving (both in the “storing money” sense and the “discounted purchases” sense). I’m always keeping my eyes out for more gift card information, innovation and opportunities. But here’s one that I’m guessing very few other people are aware of - health care gift cards from Cryo-Cell.
If you’re not aware…

Immediate Payoff From Financial Learning
Posted on September 6, 2008 - Filed Under Personal Finance | Leave a Comment
I found myself browsing old editions of the Carnival of Financial Learning over at Financial Learn the other day and stumbled across his weekly “So You Think You Can Save”contest. Since I’m a (poverty ridden) romantic and last week’s question was about saving on a first date I went ahead and entered.
Well, it turns out I won a $15 Starbucks gift card for my quick little reply! Yeah me! Not only did I come across some useful personal finance advice, but…
