Part of the Friday Frugality Series - Previous in series         Next in series

In cleaning out the bathroom today I suddenly realized how much more money my roommate throws down the figurative drain in the bathroom then I do. He’s got 3/4 of the medicine cabinet filled with various products, and the entire shelf in the shower as well. Meanwhile I have very little there as I’ve realized over the years just how much money gets poured into this…

University Doesn’t Mean What It Use To

When I was a kid, going to college meant 4 years living in dorms. These days there are a myriad of ways to get a degree without having to dedicate most of your waking hours to it for four years at a time. While trying to explain this to Z I came across capella university. It’s an accredited university that offers 100% online classes and grants Bachelor’s degrees in business, information technology, and public safety. They also offer post-graduate degrees…

Fresh Fruit - The Gift That Keeps On Giving

One of the problems with becoming disconnected from my family for many, many years is that they’re now spread all over the country. I may not be very good at rebuilding connections, but Christmas without a gift seems to be a little too much for even me. So, I’m therefore stuck with the dilemma of what to get near strangers and the expense of then having it delivered several states away.

Problem solved thanx to the Fruit of the Month club from…

Z and I went artichoke hunting on Saturday morning. But we weren’t just hunting any ol’ artichoke… We were hunting the World’s Largest Artichoke! And we found it in Castroville, CA outside the Giant Artichoke Family Restaurant.

I’m a big fan of cheesy tourist trap attractions such as this, but must say this one was rather disappointing. First of all, it’s simply not that large. Sure, at 20 feet tall it’s bigger than the average artichoke you’d find at your local…

My Personal Firearms Dilemma

I always have to laugh when I hear people describe anarchists as violent. I’ve been very much anti-gun since late in my high school years. That doesn’t mean I’m, in any way, pro-gun control, just that I don’t personally like guns. I believe, absolutely, in every person’s right to defend themselves, their family, and their property. If they feel that defense requires a firearm then I’m all for it. But, despite my personal feelings, I’ve been thinking of training Z…

As y’all know I’m always on the lookout for ways to increase revenue both online and off. I’m also always looking to find ways to spend more quality time with my daughter. Well, this weekend a perfect combination of the two things came to my attention - Inflatable Bouncers! These things are everywhere, but still in tremendous demand. Whether it’s for birthday parties, family reunions, school events, or just a day of fun, every kid loves a bounce house, and Z…
