Part of the Miley Cyrus’ Disney Sweet 16 Series - Previous in series
Well, it seems Miley Cyrus’ Sweet 16 party at Disneyland has finally sold out. As y’all know Z and I got our tickets back on September 3rd. A family friend (who I’ll also be escorting) purchased her ticket later that same week. I was pretty surprised tickets lasted as long as they did, and don’t even know for sure that they’re sold out. However, all…

The Long Lost California’s Great America Videos
Posted on April 27, 2008 - Filed Under Fatherhood | 1 Comment
Okay, so “long lost” is a bit of a stretch. The truth is I get so upset thinking about the nightmarish opening day at California’s Great America in March that I keep forgetting to upload these videos to Philaahzophy. They have, however, been on YouTube since Mid-March and received a couple of hundred views. So, somebody thinks they’re entertaining.
These were both taken during the karaoke event where X and her kids (Z and her two half-brothers) opened the show with Bon…

East Coast College Contemplation Leads To Boston Sightseeing

Last night Z and I found ourselves discussing our futures. As many of you know, once she turns 18 I’m moving to New Hampshire in order to live amongst liberty lovers and avoid as much government interference in my life as possible. Montana was another option for me to attain that same goal and Z quickly piped up saying that would be much closer to her. Of course, the whole point of waiting until she’s 18 is because then she’ll…

California’s Great America Has Not-So-Great Opening

As a roller coaster junkie I was really looking forward to opening day of California’s Great America. Although not a new park (Great America has been in Santa Clara for more than 30 years now) March 16th was the first public operation day under the new name and under Cedar Fair’s watch. I’ve only been to one Cedar Fair park in the past (Cedar Point back in the 80s), but their reputation in the roller coaster community is huge. So…

God I Hate Valentine’s Day
Posted on February 14, 2008 - Filed Under Fatherhood | 1 Comment
I’ve always been against Valentine’s Day due to its contrived nature. As a romantic I feel that love should be expressed regularly and special moments and gifts aren’t nearly as special when they are dictated by the date. But this year has got to be the worst ever.
I’ve spent the last two years devoting 99.5% of my time to caring for others and trying to make their lives better. I left my entire life behind and moved to Morgan Hill…

40 Years Later and We’re All Still Slaves

If Reverend Doctor Martin Luther King, Jr hadn’t been shot on April 4th, 1968 while standing in front of his Memphis motel room he’d have celebrated his 79th birthday last week. Hmmm… actually he probably would have been dead from something else by age 79, but that’s not really the point. The powers that be have decreed that we should all memorialize him today. Don’t get me wrong. I’m a huge fan of Martin Luther King. The man was brilliant and…
