Halloween Haunt At California’s Great America - Media Night
Posted on October 5, 2008 - Filed Under Ride Reports | 17 Comments
The first ever Halloween Haunt at California’s Great America, was actually quite enjoyable. Low expectations helped.

Our excitement for being the first to attend Halloween Haunt, was somewhat dwarfed by the fact that we were going to Knott’s Scary Farm the following night, and Miley Cyrus’ Sweet 16 right after that. But despite our numerous negative experiences with Cedar Fair throughout the year, I’ve gotta admit, they put on a pretty good Haunt.
We started out with the Boo-fet, which was not only cleverly…

Halloween Haunt At California’s Great America - Preview
Posted on September 26, 2008 - Filed Under Ride Reports | 4 Comments
Great America will have it’s first ever Halloween Haunt this year, and since Cedar Fair now owns both Great America and Knott’s Berry Farm the same crew that runs the world’s first haunted amusement park attraction, Knott’s Scary Farm, will be designing and decorating Santa Clara County’s premiere theme park for the spooky season as well!
Wow, that reads a lot more like an ad then I expected :-\ Anywayz…
Z and I will be attending opening night of Halloween Haunt…

Answering Concerns About Cedar Fair And Disabilities

Part of the Cedar Fair’s Disabled Rider Policy Series - Previous in series
Yesterday I praised Cedar Fair on their new policy that disabled guests now need to wait just as long as everyone else to experience the rides at Cedar Fair amusement parks. Since I wanted to share as many details as possible the post ran fairly long. Therefore, I decided to leave off my response to most of the objections I’ve encountered and post them separately. Hence…

Part of the Cedar Fair’s Disabled Rider Policy Series - Next in series
Now there’s a headline I never thought I’d write.
My regular readers are aware that my “day job” is caring for developmentally disabled adults. In fact, I work more than 100 hours per week doing this, so it’s more like my three day jobs. You should also be aware that Z and I are huge fans of Flash Pass/Fast Pass systems at amusement parks. Now that the disclaimers…

The Long Lost California’s Great America Videos
Posted on April 27, 2008 - Filed Under Fatherhood | 1 Comment
Okay, so “long lost” is a bit of a stretch. The truth is I get so upset thinking about the nightmarish opening day at California’s Great America in March that I keep forgetting to upload these videos to Philaahzophy. They have, however, been on YouTube since Mid-March and received a couple of hundred views. So, somebody thinks they’re entertaining.
These were both taken during the karaoke event where X and her kids (Z and her two half-brothers) opened the show with Bon…

Now THAT’S What Saturday Should Be
Posted on April 13, 2008 - Filed Under Fatherhood | Leave a Comment
Personally, I’ve always believed that Saturday’s are the day to spend doing whatever makes you happy. Yesterday was pretty much the perfect model for a Saturday.
Z and I started out lying in bed for our traditional Saturday morning cartoon ‘n’ cuddlefest - currently featuring my favorite mild-mannered Janitor, Penrod Pooch, aka Henry the Janitor, aka Hong Kong Phooey. After that a quick trip to the Morgan Hill Mervyns was required for a bra shopping errand. A quick drive-thru McDonald’s breakfast and we…
