Halloween Haunt At California’s Great America - Media Night
Posted on October 5, 2008 - Filed Under Ride Reports | Leave a Comment
The first ever Halloween Haunt at California’s Great America, was actually quite enjoyable. Low expectations helped.

Our excitement for being the first to attend Halloween Haunt, was somewhat dwarfed by the fact that we were going to Knott’s Scary Farm the following night, and Miley Cyrus’ Sweet 16 right after that. But despite our numerous negative experiences with Cedar Fair throughout the year, I’ve gotta admit, they put on a pretty good Haunt.
We started out with the Boo-fet, which was not only cleverly…

Great America will have it’s first ever Halloween Haunt this year, and since Cedar Fair now owns both Great America and Knott’s Berry Farm the same crew that runs the world’s first haunted amusement park attraction, Knott’s Scary Farm, will be designing and decorating Santa Clara County’s premiere theme park for the spooky season as well!
Wow, that reads a lot more like an ad then I expected :-\ Anywayz…

GEICO Car Insurance Knows Customer Service

Last September I wrote a post titled Lies of a Gecko in which I took GEICO to task for their “we’re lowering Californians’ auto insurance rates” advertising campaign. They hadn’t lowered mine at all :( Well a couple of weeks back I received my semi-annual auto insurance renewal and this time they reduced my six month insurance rate from $252.10 (a $4 reduction from last fall’s bill) to $195.30. Now that’s what I call savings!
Apparently this was a result of my…

Despite my being abandoned last Halloween, it remains my favorite holiday. And we’re not fooling around this year as we’re starting to celebrate on October 3.
Here’s our agenda-
- Friday October 3 - Halloween Haunt (opening night) at California’s Great America
- Saturday October 4 - Halloween Haunt at Knott’s Scary Farm (aka Knott’s Berry Farm)
- Sunday October 5 - Miley Cyrus’ Sweet 16 Party at Disneyland (okay, not strictly speaking Halloweeny, but the park will have its Halloween decorations up, including the Nightmare Before Christmas…

From the San Jose Mercury News-
SACRAMENTO—A frustrated Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger turned up the pressure on lawmakers Wednesday, saying he will veto any bills sent to him until they pass a state budget. The governor called a mid-afternoon news conference to express his dismay that Democratic and Republican lawmakers have not yet compromised on a spending plan. They remain at odds over how to close the state’s $15.2 billion deficit.
California is the only state with a fiscal year beginning July 1 that…

Getting Serious About California CoasterQuest
Posted on May 19, 2008 - Filed Under Ride Reports | Leave a Comment
Last November I dropped a post about some long term goals in order to provide a template of sorts for Z. One of those goals was to ride every roller coaster in California. As I’ve noted here before progress toward this goal has kicked in to high gear recently. So, I though I’d present y’all with some numbers.
According to Roller Coaster Database (rcdb.com) there have been a total of 150 roller coasters in California with 5 more scheduled to open…
