Full Details on Miley Cyrus’ Sweet 16 Party At Disneyland
Posted on September 20, 2008 - Filed Under Fatherhood, Miley Cyrus' Sweet 16 Party | 1 Comment
Part of the Miley Cyrus’ Disney Sweet 16 Series - Previous in series
Well, it seems Miley Cyrus’ Sweet 16 party at Disneyland has finally sold out. As y’all know Z and I got our tickets back on September 3rd. A family friend (who I’ll also be escorting) purchased her ticket later that same week. I was pretty surprised tickets lasted as long as they did, and don’t even know for sure that they’re sold out. However, all…

One Decade Of Google
Posted on September 7, 2008 - Filed Under Technology | 5 Comments
It suddenly occured to me the other day that, as of today, Google has been a round for a full decade! Happy Birthday Google!!!
Despite the cliche, Google actually was started in a garage just a handful of miles from my home. Today, Larry Page and Sergey Brin are billionaires who single-handedly (double-handedly?) made the internet accessible to millions (if not billions) of technophobes the world over.
As I ponder a decade of Google I both think it can’t be that young…

Now THAT’S The Reaction I’ve Been Looking For

Part of the Miley Cyrus’ Disney Sweet 16 Series - Previous in series Next in series
I believe I’ve shared with y’all in the past my impression that Z doesn’t know how to get genuinely excited. I’d scheme and plot for months to come up with some “big idea” that I thought was gonna rock her world and she’d smile and say ‘cool’ when I told her about it. A positive reaction to be sure, but not exactly the…

Finally Found The Once In A Lifetime

Part of the Miley Cyrus’ Disney Sweet 16 Series - Next in series
As a father I’m always searching for that once in a lifetime experience that I can provide to Z. This is compounded by my long absence from her life. But what could it be: attending the finals of American Idol? Tried, failed; backstage passes to a rock concert - not as once in a lifetime as it seems; Opening day at a major amusement park? …

Celebrating 75 Years of Drive-Ins With The Wizard Of Oz
Posted on April 24, 2008 - Filed Under Fatherhood | 2 Comments
The first drive-in movie theater opened in Camden, New Jersey on June 6, 1933 with a screening of Wife Beware starring Adolph Menjou. However, for some reason drive-ins across the country (or at least in the western states) have decided to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the drive-in movie by showing The Wizard of Oz tonight. If they’d waited until the week of June 6th they could have simultaneously celebrated Judy Garland’s 75th birthday (June 10th). Regardless, Z and I just…

‘Cause Jefferson Don’t Dance
Posted on April 23, 2008 - Filed Under Living Free | Leave a Comment
These dances and this kind of music can be destructive, and, uh, Ren, I’m afraid you’re going to find most of the people in our community are gonna agree with me on this.
-Reverend Shaw Moore, Footloose
Yeah, I just quoted Footloose, what’s it to you? The fact of the matter is I haven’t been able to get the film oput of my head since seeing this video on YouTube-

That was shot at the Jefferson Memorial in Washington, D.C., on Thomas Jefferson’s birthday…
