Philaahzophy Posts On "Aahz"-

Subcategories: Fatherhood | Ride Reports | Road Trippin' |

Hi! I’m Aahz and this category is all about me :) It’s where I post things that don’t necessarily relate to anything else here at Philaahzophy and are (probably) not of any interest to those who don’t know me personally.

Of course, it’s also home to several sub-categories all of which may very well be of interest to complete strangers. So I suppose you’ll just have to explore for yourself…

Roller Coaster at Fun Town / Funderwoods, Micke Grove, Lodi

Posted on May 19, 2008 - Filed Under Ride Reports | Leave a Comment

In my ongoing quest to ride every roller coaster in California, this was, by far, the most difficult to locate. Let’s start with just gathering information about it online…

It’s name is simply “roller coaster”. This doesn’t really give the search engines much to go on, does it. Add in the fact that various roller coaster sites have its home park listed alternatively as Funderwoods and Fun Town. At least they all agreed the coaster was in Lodi or I could…

Getting Serious About California CoasterQuest

Posted on May 19, 2008 - Filed Under Ride Reports | Leave a Comment

Last November I dropped a post about some long term goals in order to provide a template of sorts for Z. One of those goals was to ride every roller coaster in California. As I’ve noted here before progress toward this goal has kicked in to high gear recently. So, I though I’d present y’all with some numbers.

According to Roller Coaster Database (rcdb.com) there have been a total of 150 roller coasters in California with 5 more scheduled to open…

Ripley’s Believe It Or Not! - Myrtle Beach, SC

Posted on May 17, 2008 - Filed Under Ride Reports, Travel | Leave a Comment

The first actual tourist trap Z and I visited in Myrtle beach was the Ripley’s Believe It or Not! Museum. Ripley’s actually has five different venues in Myrtle Beach: the museum; Haunted Adventure, a permanently installed three story haunted house;Ripley’s Moving Theater, a 4-D movie/ride experience with two different films; a Super Fun Zone arcade; and Ripley’s Aquarium, which is in a different part of Myrtle Beach that we didn’t explore.

The museum was pretty standard Ripley’s fare (yes, that’s Z…

Back On The Weight Loss Track

Posted on May 16, 2008 - Filed Under Aahz, Health Care | 1 Comment

Okay, so I didn’t reach my goal weight of 200 pounds before I went on vacation to Myrtle Beach. But The good news is that I was still able to ride everything at Hard Rock Park and that’s what really matters. When I weighed myself upon my return late Saturday night I had bounced back up to 241. But considering I didn’t worry about what I was eating at all while I was gone I’m still pretty pleased with that. We…

California CoasterQuest Continues

Posted on May 16, 2008 - Filed Under Ride Reports | Leave a Comment

My long term goal of riding every roller coaster in California has tripped into high gear with the coming of Spring and all the amusement parks opening up for the year. In fact, next week three new coasters are supposed to be opening here in California: Pony Express at Knott’s Berry Farm (Thursday, May 22nd); Tony Hawk’s Big Spin at Six Flags Discovery Kingdom (Friday, May 23rd); and X2 at Six Flags Magic Mountain (Saturday, May 24th). If all works out…

My Personal TSA Nightmare

Posted on May 16, 2008 - Filed Under Fatherhood, Travel | Leave a Comment

Okay, Nightmare is too strong a word for it, but it makes for a much stronger title than “My Personal TSA Bad Experience” ;)

I’m not sure if I’ve mentioned it here before, but Z collects snowglobes from the places that she’s visited. Thus far she has somewhere in the neighborhood of 40. Not too bad for a 12 year old, in my opinion. While in Myrtle Beach she picked up another half dozen or so at the various spots we…
