For a guy who’s not really a fan of institutions I’ve actually written quite a bit about the institution of marriage here at Philaahzophy. It seems that the men and women around me don’t share my general opinion of the ritual. And everyone knows that we’re quickly approaching the three biggest proposal days of the year: Christmas, New Year’s Eve and Valentine’s Day.
When I got married I could barely afford any ring, but had I the choice and the opportunity I would have most definitely gone with a platinum engagemet ring. Always a fan of white gold it doesn’t hold a candle to the substance, weight and brilliant white luster that is platinum. Just imagine how the ring pictured above will sparkle under the lights of a Christmas tree or a New Year’s Eve fireworks display.
Platinum is also a much stronger investment and stronger metal, meaning the gemstone (or gemstones) will be more secure. Considering she’s going to wear this ring every day for the rest of her life the last thing you want is something that’s going to tarnish, lose its shine, or start dropping stones after a mere forty to sixty years. But don’t just take my word for it. Before you buy, swing by EngagementGuide.com and read their ring guide. You’ll be glad you did (and so will she).
