Paul McCartney Stole My Car!

Regular readers have frequently heard me mention Rover, my 1989 Ford Bronco. When I needed a “new” car, Z and I decided to get something large, despite the extra gas costs, so we could be comfortable on road trips. Rover filled the bill so well that we no longer actually go road tripping. Instead, we go ‘Rover Tripping’.

We love Rover (despite the fact he needs a new transmission), but imagine my surprise when my local radio station shared the following news story.

Former Beatle Paul McCartney and his current girlfriend are taking a road trip down Route 66 in a 1989 Ford Bronco…

That’s my car!  Paul McCartney could, literally, choose any car in the world to take on his road trip, but instead of going with a pink Cadillac or a ‘57 Chevy convertible, he chose the twin of the very vehicle I drive!  That is soooo cool!

IN an attempt to figure out what inspired McCartney’s wise choice I headed over to my favorite Canadian used cars website - Auto123.com (Canadians are kind of like Brits aren’t they?).  I’m a fan of this particular site because they feature both consumer and professional reviews of cars.  That way you get both the realistic, hands-on view and the thoughts of people who spend most of their waking hours playing with automobiles.

Unfortunately, they didn’t have any reviews on 1989 Ford Broncos (though they had listings of many for sale).  They have, however, teamed up with Travelika to run their Drive, Rate and Fly contest.  Simply evaluate a car on their site and you’ll be entered into a sweepstakesto win $5,000 or a 3-day vacation for two.
