Windows Vista Equals Pain Free Computing

As mentioned earlier this afternoon I spent most of the evening installing Windows Vista and playing around with the new operating system. Having read and heard all of the compatibility horror stories when Vista was first introduced last year I must admit I’ve been avoiding the upgrade. But I keep a fair amount of private client data on my home system and my boss was getting more and more insistent that I upgrade for the added security features. Besides, my older equipment just hasn’t been performing as well as it used to.

My boss had assured me that the Windows Vista Customer Support was top notch, which eased my worrying a bit. Their latest web site design is not only attractive but exceedingly simple to navigate in order to get help and the Windows Vista Small Business Assurance team is only a phone call away. Surprisingly the install was quick and easy and, as promised, the current version of Windows Vista worked with all of my existing hardware and software “out of the box”. So it turns out I haven’t really needed their customer support team, but it’s always nice to know they’re available.

So far I’ve tried to recreate all of the problems I was having under Windows XP - lagging, bad screen refreshes, etc - and haven’t been able to do so. No more worrying that a service provider will call while my system is choking over playing podcasts while surfing the web and simultaneously editing various files in both Dreamweaver and Photoshop. Everything’s running smooth as … well… something really, really smooth. It seems that Microsoft has finally got all the bugs out and created another very solid platform for both personal and small business users.

With just over a terrabyte of hard drive space now cobbled into this system, I’ve got to say that the new search functionality is, by far, my favorite feature so far. It’s got to be at least four times faster then trying to find “lost” or “forgotten” files under XP. It’s only been a few hours thus far, butso far,Microsoft Windows Vista has definitely earned an A grade from this once skeptical user.

What’s your point? Do you think I can’t form my own opinions and collect advertising revenue at the same time? You must have a pretty low opinion of yourself if you don’t think you could honestly critique an advertiser, because I know I can.

As for your assessment of Vista, have you actually USED the latest version or is that just more random nonsense? I’d love to hear what problems you, yourself, have had with Vista.

How much did “they” pay you to write this? Windows xp is the only decent version they have ever put out. Windows vista is a resource hog.

$10. If you would sell out your personal opinions for a mere $10 then I feel sorry for anyone who counts on your advice.

The latest version of Vista actually SOLVED my resource problems, didn’t add to them. If you’d like to come over and reinstall XP AND fix the resource problems it was giving me on my system, just drop me an email. I’ll even pay you for your time IF you can manage it. But if you can’t then you reinstall Vista and pay ME for my time. Deal?

This is the typical, although untold, story on Vista. You’ll always get idiots who have nothing intelligent to say, or the outspoken fanboys, but they are fortunately in the minority. I myself am disappointed with Vista! I’ve installed it on numerous old and new PC’s, and have had only a few minor problems. I never had any of those memory hog problems (for those who claim it’s a hog, don’t understand Vista manages memory way different than XP, in that it will try to put anything it can into ram, to improve performance), no driver problems, no game performance issues, no crashes, no blue screen, just rock solid uptime. I guess I got robbed, never having experienced any of the problems I was supposed to get! And no I don’t work for MS, I have a Mac also, and I use Ubuntu, Suse Enterprise and many other OS’s - And Vista, as well as Server 2008, which uses the same kernel - is as good as any of the others.
