Living the bulk of my life in California (and traditionally being a late sleeper) I’ve only rarely walked out to my car on a cold morning only to discover the windshield so covered with frost that I couldn’t see out of it. However, while chatting with a native New Hampshirite the other day he passed on a tip to avoid this problem even on the coldest of mornings…
It was news to me, but did you know that vinegar melts ice? Just…
72 Hours Tobacco Free - An Apology

I passed the 72 hour mark without smoking a cigarette a few short minutes ago. Overall today was definitely easier than yesterday. But it still had its challenges.
The morning started with the return commute to San Jose to finish getting Rover smogged (I promise to post my rant on this tomorrow), but this time I hit major traffic. After being essentially parked on 101 for about 40 minutes I was incredibly grateful that my remaining smokes were in my desk drawer at…
Turning Snapshots Into Works Of Art

Three years ago I doubt I had more than a half dozen photographs. These days, thanx to Z, I’m taking three dozen or more every week. The problem is that many of them capture the moment acceptably but don’t really have the power necessary to be blown up and placed as the central art in a room. Thanks to PaintYourLife.com I can now have the best…

With my weight loss deadline looming a mere 15 days away I decided to up the ante a bit and stop smoking as well. Note that I did not say “I’m trying to quit smoking again” or anything like that. I was very specific: I have stopped smoking.

While returning fro dropping off Z on Sunday I knew the time had come. I decided to finish off the day and slap a nicotine patch on when I went to bed. I…
Want To See A Free Port In Action?

Well, you had better hurry and book a flight to Dubai ASAP (I recommend DialAFlight for easy booking of overseas trips).
Why Dubai?
Because Dubai (part of the United Arab Emirates) has the largest collection of genuine Economic Free Zones (aka Free Ports) currently operating-
- Jebel Ali Free Zone
- Dubai Internet City
- Dubai Media City
- Dubai Knowledge Village
- Dubai Healthcare City
- Dubai International Financial Center
- DuBiotech
- Dubai Outsource Zone
- International Media and Production Zone
- Dubai Studio City
Each of these free ports has a specific function (as should be evident by their names, above)…

A POSTAL CARD TWELVE YEARS ON A JOURNEY.
[New York Sun.]
CHICAGO, April 21. - Emerson & Co., commission merchants, yesterday received a postal card order from Tuscola, Ill. for a supply of blackberries.
