In less than a year, analog television will be a thing of the past here in the United States. Most computer stores no longer sell the old CRT monitors. And average screen resolution used is the most rapidly increasing metric in home computer use. HDTV, Plasma, LCD, Blue-Ray, the list of high resolution video sources goes on and on and on. In other words, why the heck are you still capturing your video at VGA quality? Yeah, yeah I’m sure…

Part of the Carnival Midway Games Series - Previous in series
Carnival season is upon us once again. Z and I visited our first carnival of the year a few weeks back and will be visiting our second this coming weekend.
Thus, it seems time to refresh the memories of all those ‘big strapping’ men out there looking to win the affection of their lady love via giant teddy bears and other plush critters.
This is actually the third…

I don’t know if it’s the fact that I’m quitting smoking or the new arrangement of my room (since both occurred at essentially the same time), but for the last week or so I have been completely unable to sleep through the night.
The last time I had this problem was when I was living in downtown San Jose, right between a university campus and “crack corner USA” where all the drug dealers did their business. Then, at least I was…

Last night Z and I went out for a seafood dinner. Neither my senses of taste nor smell seemed any better then the last time I ate seafood. I walked around today for about an hour and got just as winded coming up…

When I was a kid I loved seafood. It was actually my favorite food. I had forgotten over the years that kids generally do not like fish (other than fishsticks) much luss other seafoods until I started taking Z out to some of my favorite restaurants. Well, she’s been excellent at coming out of her shell a bit and trying new dishes. In fact, last night she not only discovered that she likes crab, but she thoroughly enjoyed learning how to…
The Long Lost California’s Great America Videos

Okay, so “long lost” is a bit of a stretch. The truth is I get so upset thinking about the nightmarish opening day at California’s Great America in March that I keep forgetting to upload these videos to Philaahzophy. They have, however, been on YouTube since Mid-March and received a couple of hundred views. So, somebody thinks they’re entertaining.
These were both taken during the karaoke event where X and her kids (Z and her two half-brothers) opened the show with Bon…
