40 Years Later and We’re All Still Slaves

If Reverend Doctor Martin Luther King, Jr hadn’t been shot on April 4th, 1968 while standing in front of his Memphis motel room he’d have celebrated his 79th birthday last week. Hmmm… actually he probably would have been dead from something else by age 79, but that’s not really the point. The powers that be have decreed that we should all memorialize him today. Don’t get me wrong. I’m a huge fan of Martin Luther King. The man was brilliant and…

Irritated With Apple, Again

Remember my $20 iPod? Well, it started giving me transfer issues, so I finally just gave into the addiction and bought a working used 5.5G. Unfortunately, the transfer cord didn’t last very long as y’all can see in the picture to the right. I don’t understand why Apple can’t just use ordinary Cat 5 cable instead of requiring every iPod user buy a proprietary (read: expensive) cable.

Have you ever tried to drive in Washington, D.C.? The first road trip I took after getting my driver’s license was cross country with my older sister. Nominally we were returning my father’s car t ohim as he had lent it to her here in California then moved back to Virginia to work at the Pentagon. I’d never driven a stick shift before starting this trek, but was still granted the keys to the classic ‘67 cougar for the summer.…

You know that popup/banner ad with the really annoying smileys that start yapping when you accidentally roll over the ad? Well, a couple of them are pretty cute, but I’d feel sleazy using them because of their annoying ads. Not to mention I don’t trust the company to not drop a trojan or flood me with popups. Well, I’ve finally found a safe alternative!

SweetIM provides smiley’s, emoticons, winkys, sound effects, nudges and more for use over any Instant Messenger, web-based email…

Here in Northern California I’m constantly inundated with ads from our local power company, PG&E (Pacific Gas & Electric), about how they’re working hard to provide cleaner energy through solar and wind technology. At the same time, my daughter is flooded with information about greenhouse gases and global warming. Meanwhile, cities and municipalities around the state are requiring that people around the state dump more than…
