I Finally Get To Play House With Zaira!

Posted on December 4, 2008 - Filed Under Fatherhood | Leave a Comment

For reasons that are far too convoluted to try and explain here my ex decided that she couldn’t wait until the school break to head home for the holidays. The downsides are, of course, that Zaira now won’t get to see her maternal family this season and that I’m suddenly ‘evil’ for insisting that she remain in school when she’s struggling with her grades.

The upside, however, is that I get to feel like a “real” dad since she’ll be staying with…

Sears Gets Sales Right!

Posted on December 4, 2008 - Filed Under Shopping | Leave a Comment

Feedback keeps poring in about the Sears post I wrote a few days ago.  But before I get into responding to all of that I want to assure all my readers that it’s not the store itself I have a problem with. Sears offers some really great products, pretty good service (most of the time) and some seriously high quality products at perfectly reasonable prices. They also really know how to throw a sale as evidenced by the Sears 3 Day…

Strange Experiment Results From The Aahz Labs

Devoted readers will no doubt recall that almost four weeks ago Zaira and I painted our fingernails.  Well, I decided not to clean mine off for a week or two because I wanted to compare how much damage was done to mine compared to how much was done to hers.  This would help give her a better idea of how often she needed to repaint her nails to keep the polish looking nice.

Over the summer I shared with y’all the pricing innovation from Morey’s Piers. They were so excited about you including a visit to their park in your Jersey Shore beach vacation that they were offering free tickets to anyone who attended a local Radio Disney concert.

I’ve been keeping an eye on their site since then and just today, while checking out their Season pass offers discovered that they’ve gotten even more innovative.  Most amusement parks these days offer discounted tickets based…

Well, this could be filed in the “no duh” category…

As of July 1, 2008 it is now illegal to drive in the state of California while talking on a hand-held cell phone. Like most ridiculous laws this was passed in order to make us “safer”. According to my local paper-

[A]s of Nov. 26 local traffic enforcement officers have issued 67 tickets for violations of the new law which went into effect July 1, making it illegal for any driver to…

Sears Wants You To Give Even More Of Your Money To The Military

Posted on December 1, 2008 - Filed Under Military, Shopping | 3 Comments

Apparently, Sears thinks the government isn’t sending enough of our money to the soldiers and they’re ready to do something about it with their Sears Heroes at Home Wish Registry.  Make sure you read that title correctly.  Sears isn’t offering to send the soldiers more money.  No, they’re asking that you send more of your money to soldiers and their families in the form of Sears gift cards.  And they’re making it easy by setting up a web page (linked above)…
