Google Gets A Little Cooler (And A Little Scarier)
Posted on December 3, 2007 - Filed Under Technology | Leave a Comment
Okay, despite my recent problems with the Big G I’ve got to admit their latest announcement is pretty damn cool-
We’ve all been there: You’re out and about, and you need to figure out where you are, what’s around you, and how to get there. Google Maps for mobile can help you do all that, but first you have to enter in a starting point using the keypad. And let’s face it — entering things into your phone using the keypad is…

All I Want For Christmas Is To Be A Winner!
Posted on December 3, 2007 - Filed Under Contests, Shopping | Leave a Comment
Okay, just because I’m not a big fan of Christmas doesn’t mean I’m not a fan of Christmas contests. In fact, Overstock.com’s All I want for Christmas Giveaway pretty much defines (and then solves) my major problem with any gift-giving holiday. Observe-
Yes, Overstock wants to give you and up to five friends exactly what they want for Christmas. Here’s how it works:
- Register for Overstock.com (if you’re not already a user)
- Search through Overstock’s entire inventory (up to the $1,000 limit) and find the…

More Political Debate Theater
Posted on December 2, 2007 - Filed Under Vote 2008 | Leave a Comment
CNN continued its history of providing political theater rather than either political news or commentary last week with the latest Republican Presidential Debate. They supposedly teamed up with YouTube to gather questions from the masses for the candidates to answer. But, according to Wired, it was all another sham-
“The notion that the CNN-YouTube debate represents a grass-roots triumph of the internet age is laughable,” wrote Marty Kaplan, a research professor at the University of California’s Annenberg School for Communication. “The…

Giving The Gift Of Wine - Monthly
Posted on December 2, 2007 - Filed Under Shopping | Leave a Comment
I recently received a sample package from The Gold Medal Wine Club. This was a bit ironic since I don’t drink (though not nearly ironic as my having worked in a liquor store for three years as a non-drinker). But I do love giving gifts, so it was still a wonderful treat to receive. The package was the latest of Gold Medal’s wine of the month offerings.

Inside the well designed packaging I found two bottles of wine (2005 Belvedere Chardonnay, and 2004…

Can Yahoo And Adobe Trim eBook Scams?
Posted on December 1, 2007 - Filed Under Earning Online, Paid To Write, Technology | Leave a Comment
Stumbled across an interesting post over at Top 10 Tech Web Tips last week, titled Adobe And Yahoo Partner [To] End Scammy Ebook Deals-
Yahoo and Adobe have decided to work together to provide PDF documents that will run advertising within those PDF documents. This will enable publishers to receive advertising revenue through their virally circulated PDF documents. That is a significant advancement and could decrease publishers needs to sell those same PDF documents upfront.
Valid publishers with good contents won’t need…

Polite Comment Spammers?

Okay, someone’s going to have to explain this one to me. I received the following email from WP earlier today, asking me to moderate the comment-
