The internet is, by far, the easiest and most efficient method around for gathering information about a destination before a journey. As a result, there are probably a million or more websites out there dedicated to travel guides and reservations at this point, and each one is trying to differentiate itself from the others. While researching destinations in Scandinavia (Z and her friend K have expressed an interest in traveling there) I came across the Europe Hotel Guide at HotelsByCity.net. More specifically I found my way to their Copenhagen Hotel Guide.
Unlike the ‘big’ travel booking sites, they actually give some great information about your destination itself, complete with direct links to cheap hotels in the city, real time weather reports, online resources (city website, official tourism guide, etc), and even to a Copenhagen Travel Blog. Although HotelsByCity.net provides all of the standard stuff for arranging your trip (airline, rental car and hotel booking, etc) it comes across much friendlier. It reads and views more like a personal travel site that just happens to have professional editors.? Overall it’s nice to learn more about a possible destination without being constantly pummelled with advertisements for the latest special offer or discount.? At the same time it’s nice to financially support a company that’s willing to go the extra mile to better prepare you for your trip of a lifetime.
