Smallest Room Gets A Bit Smaller… Again

Posted on November 20, 2007 - Filed Under Aahz | Leave a Comment

Y’all may recall my recent rant/how-to on saving money in the bathroom. Well, the smallest room in the house got a little smaller today as my roommate added not one, but two makeup mirrors. Apparently, this will allow him to not only shave closer, but to trim his own hair in the back. When I pointed out that he could do the same thing by simply leaning forward, opening the side-mounted medicine cabinet mirror at an angle and using the…

Can Technology Save The Rainforest?

As a road tripper I’m not a very big fan of GPS. It seems they would spoil the sense of adventure and prevent the most glorious finds (which always seem to be found while “lost”). And as a privacy advocate I am some pretty heavy concerns about the ability of just about anyone being able to track all of my movements 24 hours a day. But I still think it’s incredibly cool technology.

That last belief was just made all the…

Ride Report - VooDoo (Top Spin) At Discovery Kingdom

It’s great having a kid who’s as into amusement parks as I am, but there’s no accounting for taste. She’s still young enough that she loves anything that spins her and/or puts her upside down. Me, I need speed. Luckily, Z doesn’t smoke, so I need some time away from her as well. It’s in those brief, hacking, moments in a full day at the park that she takes on rides like VooDoo. You see, VooDoo is what Six Flags…

I’ve never been much of an athlete, but I do know a few guys who were. Emphasis on the “were”. This is what makes it so difficult for me to get Z into athletics. There are no real ‘jockish’ role models in her life. I suppose the closest would be our friend Thomas. He tore up his knees playing Hockey (of all things) while in high school in Texas. I didn’t even know they played hockey in Texas until I met…

More On The Writer’s Whining… er… Strike

Posted on November 19, 2007 - Filed Under Living Free | 1 Comment

A couple weeks back my anarchist and free market credentials were (once again) called into question by a visitor because I thought the television writer’s strike was ridiculous. I promised a follow up on how I can be both for a free market and anti-union. Well, as often happens, someone else did it better than I could, so I’ll just point you to them for now. First, some specifics on the “poor” conditions these writers are “forced” to work in…

Even Babies Need Some Time To Relax

So I walk into my X’s room the other day and am confronted with the device you see pictured. In case you can’t tell, that’s a baby hammock from amby baby. You see, little J has been working really hard lately what with all that eating and pooping he hardly has the energy to cry. It’s actually incredibly adorable and the netting over the top compliments the canopy on his mom’s bed as well.
