With Halloween dead and gone the cobwebs, spiders and monsters are coming down off of homes to be replaced by Christmas lights. Aside from the cost of the lights themselves and the time involved in preparing, installing and removing Christmas lights homeowners who deck their homes out will spend between $50 and $200 (depending on where they live) in electric bills by having the lights up for one month. The EPA has reported that if 20% of Americans changed over to LED Xmas lights it would save 400GWh of electricity! Not only will these lights reduce your added holiday electric bill to roughly 10% of what it currently is (making it $5-$20), but they’re safer as well, since they only generate about a one degree increase in temperature over ambient temperature.
