While I had Rover in the shop I was talking to a guy getting some maintenance done on his work truck and noticed a nifty little rack device I’d never seen before. It’s called a backrack rear bar and is perfect for securing ladders so they don’t end up sprawled across a freeway lane causing headaches for everyone behind you (not to mention costing you the cash for a new ladder). I hesitate to even call this nifty device a “rack” as that makes it seem much more cumbersome and bulky than it really is. The beauty of this device lies in its simplicity.

Instead of having to attach an entire rack (or multiple racks) to your pickup’s bed, the rear bar drops easily into the rear stake slots on either side of your tailgate. The bar then extends across the length of your tailgate giving a simple yet solid place to secure items that are too long for your bed. It’s then just as easy to remove and store it should you only need it occaisionally.
