Will Z Finally Get A College Fund?

As a result of the continuing cycle of poverty in my life, Z has a grand total of $0.00 set aside for her college fund. As a result, we’ve got about 6 years to come up with a “spare” $50,000-$100,000. I’m not comfortable accepting the strings (or blood) attached to government funding, so that leaves private scholarship opportunities. Enter corporate America….

This time, it’s Procter & Gamble with their $50,000 College Education Sweepstakes. Of course, there are strings attached here as well, but they’re much more reasonable. All I need to do is watch As The World Turns and/or Guiding Light on November 12th, 14th and 16th, then return to their site and enter which character spoke the opening line of that day’s show.

The really odd thing is that the winner doesn’t have to accept the $50,000 scholarship. They can take the alternate prize of six months of diapers. It’s been a good many years since I bought diapers, but is that really a comparable prize?
